Many people overlook Microsoft Clipchamp, thinking it's just another basic video editor. In fact, it's packed with great features. With just a few simple tricks, you can unleash the full potential of Microsoft Clipchamp and take your video editing to the next level.
1. Choose the right aspect ratio
When creating and editing videos, choosing the right aspect ratio is important to ensure your content looks great on the platforms you publish on. Every social media platform and website has a preferred aspect ratio for optimal viewing. For mobile-focused content, vertical ratios like 9:16 work best because they fit phone screens well. If you target desktop users, the 16:9 widescreen format is ideal.

Clipchamp makes it easy to adjust the aspect ratio for your project, and you can change it at any time during the editing process. However, it's best to choose the right aspect ratio from the start to avoid wasting time reformatting or cropping parts of your video.
2. Use available video templates
With Clipchamp's many available video templates, you don't always have to start a project from scratch. Whether you're creating social media posts, tutorials, or marketing videos, these templates provide a great starting point with built-in designs, transitions, and text styles.

You can go to the tab Templates in the Clipchamp app to browse options by category, such as YouTube, Instagram, games, birthdays, slideshows, etc. After choosing a template, you can customize colors, fonts, and add footage of yourself to create a unique template.
3. Explore the Content library
In addition to templates, Microsoft Clipchamp also provides a powerful Content library filled with stock footage, audio tracks, stickers, etc.
You can easily search for specific content or browse curated categories to find the content that best suits your project. The best part is that many of these assets are free to use and do not require Clipchamp Premium.

Adding content from the library is easy – just drag and drop the content you want to use from the tab Content library into the timeline.
4. Use a text-to-speech tool
Don't want to use your own voice for the video? No problem. Clipchamp's text-to-speech engine lets you add professional narration without recording a single word.
You can choose from a variety of voices and accents in multiple languages. Whether you need a cheerful voice for a marketing clip or a calm, authoritative tone for instructions, there are plenty of options to choose from.

To get started, go to section Record & create > Text to Speechselect the language and voice you prefer, then enter your script. You can use the menu Advanced to adjust the pitch and speed of your voice to your liking. Once the recording is ready, you can add it to the timeline for use.
5. Automatically create subtitles
Adding captions to videos is essential for increased accessibility and engagement, and Clipchamp's automatic captioning feature makes the process easy.
To add subtitles, click the button CC Below the video, select the language spoken in your content and press the button Transcribe media. Once done, Clipchamp will automatically create subtitles in a few seconds.

You can then review and edit the subtitles to ensure accuracy. You can even adjust the font, size, and position of your subtitles to suit your video design.
6. Remove silences and pauses with just one click
Long silences or pauses can interrupt your video stream. Luckily, you don't have to do the difficult work of trimming clips and removing silences manually. Clipchamp's Auto Cut feature can automatically scan your video and remove such parts.

Just click the icon WHO Below your video, select Auto cut from the menu and Clipchamp will handle the rest. This feature is especially useful for long tutorials, interviews, or any content where clear and continuous delivery is important.
7. Record screen and webcam at the same time
Although recording a Windows computer screen is easy, it is not always enough. For tutorials, presentations, or reaction videos, you may need to record both your screen and webcam at the same time. Clipchamp includes dual recording functionality for this purpose, allowing you to record both your on-screen activity and facial expressions at the same time.

To get started, navigate to Record & Create > Screen and Camera. Use the drop-down menu to select your preferred camera and microphone, then click the recording icon to get started.
Tips: Additionally, you can enable the option Speaker Coachthis option analyzes your speech and provides personalized feedback on things like speed, pitch, and filler words.
8. Use AI Creator
Clipchamp's AI Creator is one of our favorite apps. As you might guess from the name of the app, this tool allows you to quickly create videos using your own media content with the help of AI.
To use this app, click on options Create a Video with AI and follow the prompts to add your media files, choose a theme that matches your video, and set the desired aspect ratio. Clipchamp's AI then handles the editing and creates professional-quality videos in minutes.

The great thing about the AI Creator feature is that it not only simplifies the editing process but also allows for customization. So if the end result doesn't meet expectations, you can easily edit the video to fit your creative vision.
9. Use keyboard shortcuts
Like any video editing application, Clipchamp supports many keyboard shortcuts to help speed up the editing process. For example, you can select a clip and press S to split that clip or use the left and right arrow keys to move the searcher back and forward. Clipchamp also supports popular keyboard shortcuts such as Ctrl + C to copy, Ctrl + V to paste and Ctrl + Z to undo.

You can quickly see the full list of keyboard shortcuts by clicking the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the upper left corner and selecting Keyboard shortcuts from the results menu.
