If you see the message “There are currently no power options available” when you click the power icon on your Windows 10 or 11 PC, it's usually because your access to power options has been restricted. Luckily, the fix is quite easy.
1. Use Local Group Policy Editor
Both Windows 10 and 11 have options you can use to prevent other users from using your computer's power options. If you or someone else has enabled this option, you won't see any power options in the Start menu.
Note: Group Policy settings are only available on Professional, Education, and Enterprise editions of Windows. If you're using the Home edition of Windows 10 or 11, you'll need to use Registry Editor to make these changes. (Refer to the next method.)
Fortunately, you can fix the problem by modifying Group Policy settings. Here's how:
- Press the key Windows + R at the same time to open the Runn box.
- Enter gpedit.msc into the box and press Enter.
- In the Local Group Policy Editor window, use the left pane to navigate to it User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar.
- On the right, find the section that says content Remove and prevent access to the Shut Down, Restart, Sleep, and Hibernate commands and double-click the item.
- In the entry window, select options Disabled at the top.
- Click Apply > OK at the bottom to save changes.
- Restart your PC for the changes to take effect.

2. Edit Windows Registry
If you are using the Home edition of Windows 10 or 11, you will not be able to access the Local Group Policy Editor. In this case, use Registry Editor to disable hiding power options. Here's what you need to do:
- Press the key simultaneously Windows + R to open the Run box.
- Enter regedit into the box Run and press Enter.
- In the Registry Editor window, enter the following path in the address bar and click Enter:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
- Double-click the item NoClose in the right pane.
- Put Value data belong to NoClose wall 0 (no) and click OK.

Restart your PC after making the above changes and you will see all the power options in the Start menu.
3. Restore default power plan
Another possible cause of the “There are currently no power options available” issue is a misconfigured power plan. If you or someone else has modified your computer's power plans, try restoring them to default settings to see if that resolves the problem. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open the Start menu, search Command Prompt and click Run as administrator.
- Select Yes in the User Account Control prompt.
- In the Command Prompt window, enter the following command and press Enter:
powercfg -restoredefaultschemes
- Your power modes will now be reset.

4. Use Power Troubleshooter
Both Windows 10 and 11 include several troubleshooters to resolve common problems. In this case, you can run Power Troubleshooter. This troubleshooter will automatically detect and fix problems related to missing power options on your PC, as well as resolve any inconsistencies that are causing the error.
To run this troubleshooter, follow these steps:
- Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.
- Enter System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters in Settings. If you're using Windows 10, go here Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Click the button Run next to Power.

Wait for the troubleshooter to run and do its job. Then check to see if the error is resolved.
5. Repair damaged files
Windows PCs rely on system files to perform many different actions. If any of these files are corrupted or missing, you may encounter various problems, including the problem discussed here. The good news is that Windows includes a tool called SFC (System File Checker) to detect and repair damaged files on your PC.

6. Use System Restore
System Restore is a useful Windows feature that allows you to restore your PC to a previous state. You can use this option to restore to a time when your PC did not show the “There are currently no power options available” issue. Do not worry! This process will not affect your files or personal data.

If nothing else works, consider resetting your PC as a last resort. This will restore all settings to default, potentially resolving any issues. The good news is that you can reset Windows without losing your files.

Wait for the reset process to complete and your PC will be like new with no more errors.
There are several reasons why a Windows PC's power menu displays the “There are currently no power options available” error, ranging from simple software errors to more complex system configurations. However, you can easily fix it with the solutions mentioned above. Once done, you can shutdown, restart, and put your PC into hibernation as usual.
