During Windows installation, incorrect regional configuration can result in date and time formatting that does not make sense to the user. For example, in the US the month is written before the day and that can cause confusion for users in other regions. If there is a problem with the date format on Windows, you can change it yourself according to the instructions below.
Change date format on Windows 11
Change format through Settings
Step 1:
You press the key combination Windows + I to open Settings on the computer. The user then clicks Time & language section.
Step 2:
Looking at the content next to it, we click on it Language & region to adjust the language and region on the computer.
Step 3:
Next, Click Regional format then select the current country in the displayed list.
Step 4:
Click arrow icon to expand the settings, then click next Change formats below.
Then we will Adjust date format at Short date at your discretion with the options below.
Change format via Control Panel
Step 1:
You press Windows + R keyboard shortcut Later import timedate.cpl in the Run interface displayed.
Step 2:
Displays the date and time adjustment interface on Windows 11. We click Change date and time in the interface.
Continue pressing select Change calendar settings to change calendar settings on your computer.
Step 3:
Firstly at Format Users choose the format according to which country they want.
Then stay below Short date Also choose the date and time format for you to set for your computer as you like.
Change date and time format on Windows 10
To change the date and time format displayed on Windows 10, follow these steps:
Step 1: First enter keywords change the date Go to the Search box on Windows 10. Then click to select Change the date and time format on the search results list.
Step 2: On the date and time format setting interface, you can choose different formats in the Short date, Long date, Short time and Long time sections.
- Short date: will display date/month/year in the form: March 3, 2021.
- Long date: will display day, day, month and year in the form: Wednesday, March 3, 2021.
- Short time: Time display includes hours, minutes, am/pm: 08:28 AM.
- Long time: Display hours, minutes, seconds, am/pm: 08:28:29 AM.
Also if you don't find the date and time format you want on the options list. For example, on the list of options only the date and time format uses a slash, but you want to use the date and time format as a dot. In this case you can access the Control Panel interface to set the date and time format you want.
Step 3: To access the Control Panel interface, click the return arrow in the top left corner of the Settings interface.
You will now return to the Date & Time interface in Time & Language.
Step 4: On the Date & Time interface in the right pane, scroll down to find and click the link Additional date, time, & regional settings located under Related settings.
Step 5: The Clock, Language, and Region interface will now appear on the screen.
Step 6: Here in the Region section in the right pane, click on the link Change date, time, or number formats to open the Region dialog box.
Step 7: If you are using Windows 10 and 8.1, on the Region dialog box, select the tab Formatscroll down a bit and click to select Additional settings.
Step 8: On the Customize Format dialog box, click the tab Date.
Step 9: In the Date fomarts section, find the Short Date section, you can choose different formats, and can edit the date formats here.
Just enter the date format you want to use in the Short Date box. Such as month.day.year format.
Click on the downward arrow to choose from different formats such as MM.dd.yyyy,… For example, September 3, 2016,…
After entering the format you want to use in the Short date box, click to select Apply.
Additionally, you can change the time format by clicking on the tag Time. Enter the format you want to use in the Short Time box.
After setting custom date and time, click select OK to close the Customize Format dialog box.
Click to continue OK to close the Region dialog window.
Click the mark icon X in the top right corner to close the Control Panel and the Settings window.
Now in the system tray on the Taskbar you can see the date format has been changed.
Change Date and Time format settings on Windows 7
To access the Date and Time settings interface on Windows 7, first click the Start Menu button and enter the keyword change the date Go to the Search box.
Next click on the link Change the date, time, or number format in the search results list to open a dialog box Region.
