Keeping track of multiple time zones is important when traveling or communicating with friends and family living abroad. Instead of manually calculating the time difference between cities, you can use your iPhone to view multiple time zones.
How to check multiple time zones in the Clock app
You can use the Clock app to easily keep track of multiple time zones on your iPhone. This is the simplest and most convenient way to do it.
Open the application Clock and go to tab Greenwich mean time from the bottom menu. Tap the plus (+) button in the upper right corner of the screen. This will open a pop-up window where you can search and select the city for which you want to see the time.
You will now see the time in the selected city in the tab Greenwich mean timealong with the number of hours that location is behind or ahead of your local time. You can repeat this process for multiple cities and time zones.
The main downside to this method is that you have to open the Clock app every time you want to check the time. This method works best if you only want to occasionally view time zones from different regions.
How to add multiple time zones to iPhone home screen
If you frequently need to check time zones in different regions, a convenient option is to display multiple clocks on the iPhone's home screen. You can do this using the Universal Time widget. To add this widget to your home screen, follow these steps:
- Press and hold an empty space on the home screen until the apps start to jiggle.
- Click the button Fix in the top left corner. Select Add amenities from 3 options appear.
- Now scroll down and select Clock.
- Swipe multiple times to get to the widget Greenwich mean time. This gadget comes in two style options – square and rectangular – and both include 4 clocks displaying the time for 4 different cities.
Once you've chosen your preferred clock style, you can add a widget to your home screen:
- Press Add amenities at the bottom to add to your home screen. You will see 4 random cities in the widget.
- If all your apps are still moving, just tap the widget you just added. If not, press and hold the widget you added and tap Edit widgets.
- Click on the city you want to change and select the desired city. Repeat this operation for all 4 clocks.
- You may want to move the most checked cities to the top and push other cities to the bottom. You can rearrange them by pressing and holding the three horizontal bars next to a city and dragging to a new location.
You've finally configured the Universal Time widget with the cities you like! We also recommend you try out some great apps that let you create custom widgets for your iPhone for even more customization options.
How to add multiple time zones to iPhone's lock screen
To check more frequently, you can also display the time zones for multiple cities on your iPhone's lock screen. There are several lock screen widget options you can choose from.
Press and hold your iPhone's Lock screen and tap an option Customize below. Then choose Lock screen and tap the field just below the time. Now, scroll down and select Clock.
You'll see some widget options for the Watch app:
- City (Number): This widget allows you to add a digital clock for a specific city to check the time at that location. You can add up to 4 small digital clocks or two rectangular clocks using this option.
- City (Kim): This widget allows you to display up to 4 small analog clocks for various time zones.
- Greenwich mean time: This widget allows you to see the time in 3 cities around the world.
Tap your favorite widget to add it to your lock screen, then tap the added widget to select the cities where you want to display the time.
For the World Time widget, tap each individual city to change to your desired city. Once you're satisfied with your selection, tap Finished in the upper right corner of the screen.
The Clock app is sufficient if you don't need to check the time in different cities frequently. However, if you frequently need to check time zones in different regions around the world, you should consider adding a Clock widget to your home screen or lock screen.
