Microsoft Edge has several advantages over Chrome and Firefox, such as taking up much less resources and a more integrated user interface with other Microsoft applications. However, the Edge browser has a rather annoying feature that opens Office documents immediately instead of downloading them to your device for later viewing. Below are instructions to turn off Office file viewer on Edge.
Instructions for turning off Office file viewer on Edge via Settings
Step 1:
Open the Edge browser and then click 3 dots iconselect Setting in the list.
Step 2:
In the new interface, the user clicks Downloads section on the left edge.
Step 3:
Look at the content next to you and you will see The Open Office files in browser option is enabled by default. We will turn off this option to turn off the Office file viewer on Edge.
After turning off, every time you download an Office file on the Edge browser, you will be asked if you want to open the file or save the file, allowing users to choose according to their needs.
