The development of technology brings many great benefits to humans. In particular, using cameras to save memorable moments and capture anything we need is extremely useful. You can use the camera to take photos of invoices, maps, items, etc. However, when you need to send a document to a bank or a company, you cannot take photos with a regular camera because It doesn't look very professional. At this point, what you need is a scanning application on your phone. In this article, I will introduce to readers one of the best applications – CamScanner.
Below, I will guide readers to use CamScanner on Android, however, this product is also available on iOS and Windows Phone with a similar interface.
Scan images
The application has a simple and fast document scanning function.
When you activate the application, you will automatically be taken to the screen My Docs. Click the camera icon in the bottom right corner to start scanning.
On the scan screen, there are 3 types of scans you can perform: Docs, ID Card and QR Code. If you want to scan your passport for printing, you should use the ID Card scan option. Note that you should place it on a flat surface before continuing.
If you scan documents, you can use one of two modes: Single and Batch Mode. Use Single if you want to scan a single page and use Batch Mode if you want to scan multiple pages in one document. You can also change cropping and batch editing options in the app's Settings menu.
When you click on the gear icon, it will allow you to change settings like flash, text direction, and resolution.
Edit scans
When you finish scanning, the application will automatically switch to the editing screen to adjust the document's perimeter.
At the bottom of the screen, you'll see options to rotate the image and a button – in case you want to keep the entire previous document.
You can add Instagram filters to scans to make documents easier to read. There are seven options: Auto, Original, Lighten, Magic Color, Gray Mode, Black and White and Black and White 2.
Extract text
CamScanner comes with an OCR feature to extract text from a scanned image. To use this feature, you need to do all the steps above. Then instead of clicking Tick To complete the process, click select OCR Magnifying Glass.
The application will ask you to scan the entire text or just a specific area. Once selected, click Recognize to get started.
Scan results will be displayed on the screen.
Post-processing
Once the scan is saved in the My Docs file, you can make some further edits using the Crop, Share and Rename options in the top right corner. At the bottom of the screen, you'll see options to rotate documents, extract OCR text, and how to add annotations.
Above, I showed you how to use the CamScanner application to scan and edit documents. There are also many other applications. You can refer to: Effective photo scanning applications on smartphones
