Tips to permanently turn off sound when taking photos on Samsung phones

Although I love taking photos with Samsung phones, the loud shutter sound every time I take a photo makes many people angry. No one wants to be the person who constantly bothers everyone around them with the sound of the camera shutter. Luckily, there is a way to turn off this annoying sound completely.

Note: Shutter muting should be done responsibly. It is important to be mindful of privacy and respect your surroundings. Be sure to use this feature thoughtfully, keeping in mind that shutter sound is required in some locations for privacy and security reasons.

Mute the shutter sound via camera settings

Some Galaxy phones have an option in the camera settings that allows you to directly turn off or disable the shutter sound. If you're lucky enough to own a Samsung phone that supports this feature, you can easily mute the camera shutter with these steps:

  1. Open the Camera app on your Samsung Galaxy phone.
  2. Tap the gear icon in the top left corner.
  3. Scroll down to find the toggle button Shutter sounds and turn it off.

Depending on your phone model, region, and carrier restrictions, the option to mute the shutter may not be available in your camera settings. In some countries, such as Japan and South Korea, regulations require camera shutters to be unmuted for privacy and security reasons.

Mute the shutter sound using Modes and Routines

If you can't find the option to mute the shutter, don't worry – you don't have to switch your phone to silent or vibrate mode, or connect headphones every time you take a photo.

Samsung's Modes and Routines make it easy to automate a variety of actions. Many people have used this feature to create a habit of automatically switching their phone to silent mode whenever opening the Camera app.

  1. Open the application Settings and click Modes and Routines.
  2. Switch tabs Routines and tap the plus icon in the upper right corner.
  3. Select options Add what will trigger this routine.
  4. Scroll down to the section Event and click App opened.
  5. Select Camera from the application list and tap Done.
  6. Click on options Add what this routine will do.
  7. Go Sounds and vibrations > Sound mode and volume.
  8. Select Vibrate or Mutethen press Done.
  9. Press Savename the routine as desired and press Done.

And that's it! Now, when you open the Camera app, your Samsung phone will automatically switch to vibrate or silent mode and the shutter sound will be muted.

Although having the option to simply turn off the camera shutter sound directly on your Samsung Galaxy phone would be more convenient, using Routines isn't bad either. This is a one-time setup and works seamlessly every time you use the Camera app.

Wish you success!
