If you are a new photographer, you must have tinker with the camera to get the bokeh effect and fade the perfect background. Now, Adobe's Blur Lens tool will help you easily review your photos, add depth and focus for photos.
What can Blur lens tool do?
Photoshop's lens feature, currently part of the Camera RAW control panel, allows adding actual image depth effects to any image without a high -end camera lens.
Adobe Sensei's AI technology uses AI technology to estimate the depth of the image, especially when there is no depth map. This tool tries to guess which areas should be focused and which areas should be blurred. This tool simulates the natural focal length that you will receive from the wide aperture lens, such as the 50mm 1.4 or 1.8 lens.
Note: To capture the depth map with iPhone 16, turn on High-Efficiency Image Format (HEIF) from Settings.
Tell the controls that allows you to add art accents to any old or new image. For example, you can isolate the subject by blurring the background causing distraction or adding depth to your landscape photos. Your photo does not need to be in the RAW format to fade the active lens, but the RAW file provides better results due to richer image data.

Note: Traditional blur filter of Photoshop (in Filter> Blur & Blur Gallery) Applying the blurring effect on a selected area but does not use AI of Adobe.
How to use the Blur lens tool (on new photos and old photos)
You can use the RAW camera filter by opening the image directly at the beginning of the editing process. In addition, you can open the image as a filter at any time during the editing process. People often like to open photos and convert the image layer into smart object to edit without destroying.
- Open photos in Photoshop.
- To convert layer into smart object for non -destructive editing, right -click on that layer and choose Convert to Smart Object.
- Enter Filter> Camera Raw Filter To launch RAW camera filter. You can also open the RAW camera from Adobe Bridge with live RAW photos.
- Roll down the right board until you find it Blur lens. Mark on the box Apply To turn on the effect.

Note: It will take a few seconds to activate because it is supported AI in the cloud. Sometimes, it uses a computer's graphics processor for faster processing.
Now, adjust the settings and effects you want by the following controls:
- Blur Amount: Use this slider to control the degree of blur is applied.
- Focal Range: Adjusting the areas of the image is still focused by pulling the edges of the focus box. Make it wider to have more focused and narrower areas to fade more areas.
- Bokeh Effects: Choose from many different bokeh effects such as Circle, Bubble or 5 cards to have art. These bokeh effects simulate different types of lens apertures. It is placed into the default “circle” for modern lenses.
- Slider Cat Eye For the “swirling” bokeh effects emitted from the center.
- Boost slider Adjust the brightness of non -focusing light sources.
Note: You can also turn on Visualize Depth To see what is in the foreground and background. The thermal map shows which area is focused (warm yellow tones) and which area is not focused (cool blue tones).
Use Brush Refinement tools to apply more focusing areas or blurring. Focus and Blur manual adjustments are also great to refine the effects near the edges. Finally, click on OK To apply the changes.
Now we have grasped the basic things, let's explore some creative ways to use the Blur lens options.
Note: You can use the Blur lens settings in Lightroom to fade the background of the image. However, the RAW camera version in Photoshop provides more sophisticated manual adjustments.
Lens Blur will give you a creative reason to review and restore your old photos in a more aesthetic way. But it is not a perfect tool, so your effect will be different. Show up to see the areas where it misses and fix them with the Refine options.
The ability to analyze the depth of AI tool is very impressive. In addition, it also makes your smartphone photos more beautiful with beautiful bokeh effects. You can always use other Photoshop editing techniques to supplement the Blur lens tool with a few complete features.
