Why should you use f.lux instead of Night Light on Windows 11?

Night Light on Windows 11 is a handy feature if you often use your computer at night, but this is not the best implementation of this function. Many people use free f.lux instead of Night Light on Windows 11; Here's why.

The most common argument in favor of f.lux over Night Light is that f.lux has far more customization options than the native Windows implementation. You can change anything from the color temperature of your display to exactly when the color temperature changes and how many times it changes.

To be fair, the Windows implementation allows you to set the intensity and schedule for turning on Night Light, but f.lux takes this feature to the next level. You can choose preset settings for when the color temperature changes, such as when you work late or want to reduce eye strain.

This change is extremely unpleasant to the eyes, compared to the smooth transition that f.lux provides. As the sun sets or rises, f.lux will gradually change the color temperature, so you won't even notice the change.

There are much fewer problems, errors and glitches when using f.lux. Additionally, it includes shortcuts to turn off services, change brightness, or adjust color temperature instantly. So even if the program displays the wrong color or doesn't switch automatically, you don't have to dig through the menu.

4. F.lux can also control smart light bulbs

Finally, F.lux comes with a lot of additional functions that you won't find in Night Light. This includes the ability to sync Phillips Hue smart bulbs to your desktop's color temperature, allowing for seamless lighting transitions between day and night.
