1. Run CMD Admin on all Windows versions
This way to open the Command Prompt window can be applied on all versions of Windows from XP, Windows 7, to Windows 10, you do the following:
- You open search bar on Windows, enter
cmd
. - In the results that appear, do not click or press Enter, but press the key combination
Ctrl
+Shift
+Enter
to open CMD under Admin. Or right-click on the selected result Run as Administrator.

2. Open Command Prompt under Admin on Windows 8 and Windows 10
To open Command Prompt under Admin on Windows 8 and Windows 10, first right-click the button Start (located in the bottom left corner of the screen) then select Command Prompt (Admin).
Note: You can press a key combination Windows + X to open the Options Menu.
At this time, the Command Prompt Administrator window will appear on the screen allowing you to launch commands under Admin.
Note: With some newer versions of Windows 10, Command Prompt has been replaced by Windows PowerShell in the X menu, so you can select Windows PowerShell (Admin) no problem, it still performs full cmd functions.
3. Open Command Prompt under Admin on Windows 10
To open Command Prompt under Admin on Windows 10, first enter cmd
Go to the Seach frame on the Start Menu or on the Taskbar, then right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

If you use Windows 10 with the latest versions then button Run as administrator will appear as soon as you search Command Prompt like this.

4. Open Command Prompt under Admin on Windows 8
On the Desktop screen, click Start located in the bottom left corner of the screen.
On the Start Screen interface, enter keywords command prompt
Go to the Search box.
Now on the screen you will see Command Prompt. Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
Return to the Desktop screen. If dialog User Account Control appears, click to select Yes to continue.
Note: If the dialog box does not appear, it may be due to settings User Account Control on your computer.
5. How to open Command Prompt when booting in Windows 10
Option 1: Open Command Prompt when booting with Windows 10 installation media
Note: You will not need to know the password of the admin account with this option.
Step 1: Boot from Windows 10 installation USB or ISO file if in a virtual machine.
Step 2: Perform step 3 or step 4 below, depending on how you want to open Command Prompt at boot.
Step 3: When you see Windows Setuppress the key combination Shift
+F10
.

Step 4: When you see Windows Setupclick Next.
Then click Repair your computer and go to step 2 in the Option 2 section below.

Option 2: Open Command Prompt at boot using Advanced Startup Options in Windows 10
Note: You will need to know the admin account's password for this option.
Step 1: Boot in Advanced Startup Options.
Step 2: Click options Troubleshoot.

Step 3: Click Advanced options.

Step 4: Click options Command prompt.

Step 5: If you have booted in Advanced Startup from within Windows 10, the computer will restart. Click the listed local administrator for whom you want to provide credentials, enter the account's password, and tap Continue.
