Committing right -clicking action on Mac is not as simple as on PC Windows. This is because Apple's Magic Mouse and Trackpad does not have a specialized right button. Take some time to get used to the following right -click options in MacOS to avoid confusion in the future.
Right -click on Mac's trackpad
Modern Windows laptop allows you to right click by just touching trackpad with two fingers. However, MacOS does not allow you to do it by default. You need to configure your trackpad settings, whether you use Apple's Magic Trackpad or the integrated MacBook Trackpad Force Touch.
Go to the menu Apple > System Settings From the menu bar and select the option Trackpad At the end of the left bar.
Now, look for settings Secondary Click to the right. If it is in the state Offput it into Click with Two Fingers. You can also turn on Tap to click In the same menu if you want to touch the trackpad of a Mac with two fingers to activate right -click the same as usual on Windows laptop.
Other options for function Secondary Click include Click in Bottom Right Corner and Click in Bottom Left Corner (for left -handed users). Consider trying all those options, then select the installation you like.
Right -click on Apple Magic Mouse
Unlike traditional mice with separate buttons for left click and right click, Apple's Magic Mouse has only one physical button. So how do you right click on it?
This is quite simple: all you need to do is click on the right mouse. However, if that does not activate the right click on the Mac, you need to configure the mouse in MacOS.
Go System Settings> Mouse and find settings Secondary Click. Make sure it is placed in Click Right Side. If left -handed, you can put it into Click Left Side.
Use the keyboard to right click on the Mac
This right -clicking method is often used and preferred while typing. Regardless of what your mouse or trackpad installation in macOS is, you can use this method to right -click on the Mac quickly. All you need to do is hold the Control key before clicking on Trackpad, Magic Mouse or left click button on any mouse to activate right -clicking action in MacOS.
Right -click with traditional mouse
The easiest way to right click on the Mac is to buy a standard two -button mouse. You can choose one of the best mice to use daily for less than 80 USD. And if you are looking for something extremely cheap, you can buy Logitech M185 from Amazon for less than 15 USD.
Plug its wireless mouse or adapter into the Mac (you will need adapter if your Mac only has a USB-C port) and click on Allow When you receive the notice “Allow Accessory to Connect?”. When doing that, you will be able to start using it immediately. Go System Settings> Mouse To adjust the sensitivity, scroll speed and other settings.
